RESURRECTION
Genesis 22:5 And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here
with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and
come again to you.
Psalms 16:10
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer
thine Holy One to see corruption.
Psalms 49:14-15
14.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them;
and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning;
and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
15. But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for
he shall receive me. Selah.
Job 19:25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall
stand at the latter day upon the earth:
Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body
shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy
dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
Ezekiel 37:1-14
1.The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the
spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley
which was full of bones, 2. And caused me to pass by them round
about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and,
lo, they were very dry. 3. And he said unto me, Son of man, can
these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest. 4.
Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto
them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. 5. Thus saith
the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to
enter into you, and ye shall live: 6. And I will lay sinews upon
you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin,
and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that
I am the LORD. 7. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I
prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones
came together, bone to his bone. 8. And when I beheld, lo, the
sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them
above: but there was no breath in them. 9. Then said he unto me,
Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind,
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and
breathe upon these slain, that they may live. 10. So I prophesied
as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived,
and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. 11. Then
he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of
Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is
lost: we are cut off for our parts. 12. Therefore prophesy and
say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I
will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves,
and bring you into the land of Israel. 13. And ye shall know that
I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and
brought you up out of your graves, 14. And shall put my spirit
in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land:
then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed
it, saith the LORD.
Daniel 12:1-2
1.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which
standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a
time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even
to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered,
every one that shall be found written in the book. 2. And many
of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some
to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
Matthew 22:30-32
30.
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage,
but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31. But as touching the
resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken
unto you by God, saying, 32. I am the God of Abraham, and the
God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the
dead, but of the living.
Matthew 27:50-53
50.
Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the
ghost. 51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain
from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks
rent; 52. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints
which slept arose, 53. And came out of the graves after his resurrection,
and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Luke 20:37-38
37.
Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when
he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob. 38. For he is not a God of the dead, but
of the living: for all live unto him.
John 11:23-26
23.
Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again. 24. Martha
saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection
at the last day. 25. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection,
and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet
shall he live: 26. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall
never die. Believest thou this?
Acts 23:6-8
6.
But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and
the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren,
I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection
of the dead I am called in question. 7. And when he had so said,
there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees:
and the multitude was divided. 8. For the Sadducees say that there
is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees
confess both.
1 Corinthians 15:50-53 (read 50-58)
50.
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit
the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51. Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but
we shall all be changed, 52. In a moment, in the twinkling of
an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the
dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal
must put on immortality.
Philippians 3:20-21
20.
For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for
the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21. Who shall change our vile
body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according
to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto
himself.
1Thessalonians 4:13-18
13.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning
them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which
have no hope. 14. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we
which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not
prevent them which are asleep. 16. For the Lord himself shall
descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel,
and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall
we ever be with the Lord. 18. Wherefore comfort one another with
these words.
2 Thessalonians 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming
of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 Timothy 1:10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our
Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought
life and immortality to light through the gospel:
Hebrews 11:5,19
5.
By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and
was not found, because God had translated him: for before his
translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 19. Accounting
that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence
also he received him in a figure.
Revelation 20:1-15
1.
And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the
bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2. And he laid hold
on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan,
and bound him a thousand years, 3. And cast him into the bottomless
pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should
deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be
fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. 4.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given
unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for
the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not
worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received
his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived
and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5. But the rest of the
dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This
is the first resurrection. 6. Blessed and holy is he that hath
part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath
no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years. 7. And when the thousand
years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8.
And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four
quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together
to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9. And
they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp
of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down
from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10. And the devil that
deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where
the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day
and night for ever and ever. 11. And I saw a great white throne,
and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven
fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw
the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were
opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life:
and the dead were judged out of those things which were written
in the books, according to their works. 13. And the sea gave up
the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the
dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according
to their works. 14. And death and hell were cast into the lake
of fire. This is the second death. 15. And whosoever was not found
written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
